Tertiary colours, (the third tier of colours), are made up of a primary and its opposite secondary colour (i.e. they contain elements of all three primary colours) whereas secondary colours, (the second tier of colours), are made up from only two primary colours. Tertiary colours are the numerous range of browns, greys, ochres and other earth colours.
